I don’t have to close my eyes anymore, To see the nightmare creep towards me, Slowly and slowly, Almost enjoying the fear, Rising in my body. I can feel the goosebumps, I can feel the helplessness, As I bring out everything, To shield, to protect, To build this fort of ours, Yet everything seems puny. I see known faces fall, I see known faces cry, A battle we will win, But the cost, Beyond imagination. Shiver runs down the spine, As I try to restrict my mind, To stop predicting the future, To stop its imaginations. Yet everything fails, When I see it lurking, From few feet away, Looking. Analyzing. A way in, Into this fort. A way past, The shields and protections. Often in battles we reach the point, Where fear becomes an ally, rather than an enemy, I feel inching towards that point, In this battle of ours, With lost hope, We are left with nothing to lose, And the end seems inevitable, So we do the only thing we can, FIGHT!
